8 Divisions in 8 Days: AFC South
What to expect out of the AFC South this year.
1. Indianapolis Colts - The Colts have a very young offense. They have new starters at QB, RB, C, and TE. Andrew Luck is the new starting quarterback, after being the first overall pick and signing a deal this past week. Will the connection between the receivers and Luck be there in his rookie year? Possibly. It depends on what Luck wants to do. The Colts are building the offense around him by drafting his TE Coby Fleener out of Stanford as well. I think the Colts will go 5-11 in 2012.
Fantasy Favorite: TE Coby Fleener late in the draft, RB Donald Brown in a middle round if he is there.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars - QB Blaine Gabbert is young, and now has a couple new targets. The Jags added Lee Evans and drafted Justin Blackmon in April. He also has Maurice Jones-Drew in the backfield which is a great thing as a young quarterback. On the defensive side of the ball Jacksonville lost Aaron Kampman and Marcus Stroud. Although the Jaguars have 13 defensive rookies currently on their roster for the start of training camp. Let the competition begin! I have Jacksonville going anywhere from 4-12 to 8-8 right now, depending on the defensive situation.
Fantasy Favorite: RB MJD late in the first round. This will be his year to really prove what he's all about.
3. Tennesee Titans - There is a little competition at quarterback down south. Jake Locker going into his second year or veteran Matt Hasselbeck. Running back Chris Johnson is expected to have a giant year, which I agree with. WR Kenny Britt was just picked up for a DUI early Friday morning. Rookie Kendall Wright and Nate Washington will pick up whatever slack Britt will be leaving, whether that's a lot or not so much. I think the Titans are ready for the playoffs on the offensive side of the ball. On the defensive, not so much. Will Weatherspoon is the only potential Pro-Bowler. I think the Titans will be going 8-8 this year.
Fantasy Favorite: WR: Kendall Wright. I think Wright will have a giant rookie season. He will be one of the two best rookie WRs, no doubt.
4. Houston Texans - This is the year of the Texans. If Andre Johnson is healthy, he is the last piece to the puzzle. The throwing game with Matt Schaub. The running game with Arian Foster and Ben Tate. The receiving game with Andre Johnson, Kevin Waltor and Jacoby Jones. The rushing game with JJ Watt and Brian Cushing. The secondary game with Jonathon Joseph and Danieal Manning. The Texan will win 10+ games for sure, if Schaub and Johnson are healthy.
Fantasy Favorite: RB Arian Foster will be the first pick is 99% of leagues. QB Matt Schaub is a great steal late if you need a quarterback.
