Looking at RB Free Agency

Looking at RB Free Agency

For a team that needs a RB, you have a pretty deep market. Green Bay is one of those teams. Former Bengals RB Cedric Benson is going to (90%) sign with the Packers. Benson and Starks will have a solid running game with guys like Brandon Saine and Alex Green behind them.

Other RBs including Ryan Grant, Cadillac Williams, Ryan Torain, and Joseph Addai are still available. These guys will either be picked up in the next couple weeks or sometime in the season. Do not count these guys out. They will all find home, absoulutley no doubt.

Dwight Howard to LA

Dwight Howard to LA

“Well, it looks like Superman has found a home. I wish nothing but the best for Big Bynum. I hope he follows what was a great season last year with an even better one next year. I know LA is excited about the deal and rightfully so. The Lakers landed a piece that will hopefully carry the franchise long after I'm gone. I have spoken to Dwight Howard already and we are locked and loaded to bring back the title. Wow, what a summer Jimmy and Mitch have had so far. Unreal! I'm focused on our semifinal game vs Argentina but I had to pause for a few to send you my thoughts, in case you were curious..”

-Kobe Bryant on Dwight Howard coming to LA

DH12 is going to LA, upon approval by the league. This trade sends another great center Andrew Bynum from LA to Philadelphia. This deal also send G/F Andre Iguodala who is currently in London for the Olympic Games, from Philadelphia to Denver.

Brandon Weeden named starter
Rookie QB Brandon Weeden of the Cleveland Browns was named the starter for week 1 come regular season. Backup Colt McCoy told NFL.com "I haven't taken any snaps with the first group. I thought coming in it would be a competition ." Brandon Weeden is turning 29 in October, obviously the Browns are taking that seriously.

USA avoids upset; keeps on rolling

USA avoids upset; keeps on rolling

King James and the rest of the USA Basketball team were almost upset by Lithuania, but, LeBron’s 16 in the second half kept them 4-0 in the Olympics. 5 points is the smallest margin of victory in the Olympics so far for the men. Carmelo Anthony had a big 20 as well, scoring 16 in the first half. F Kevin Durant added 16. The US shot 19 for 31 for free throws. Not good. Linas Kleiza of the Toronto Raptors and team Lithuania had 25 points, leading his country’s team.  The US’ next challenge is Argentina, who they beat in an exhibition game a couple weeks ago.

Ed Reed & Troy Polamalu: Who's better?

I'm finishing this debate and I'm going geek on you statistically. Both of them are Hall of Fame players, absolutely no doubt about that. Reed stands at 5'11 and weighs in at 200lbs on the dot. Polamalu stands at 5'10 and weighs 213lbs.
First off, Ed Reed was selected 24th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2002 NFL Draft. He took no time making an impact. Reed started all 16 games in the 2002 season, having 5 interceptions and 71 tackles. Troy Polamalu was selected 16th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He started 0 games. He clocked out with 29 tackles, 2 of which were sacks, and 4 pass deflections.
Round 1: Ed Reed
In the next three seasons, Reed started 42 of 48 games, had 17 interceptions, leading the league in 2004 (9), forced four fumbles, and having a total of 156 tackles. Reed also won the AP Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004. Troy started 45 out of 48 games, had 10 interceptions, forced 3 fumbles, and had 67 tackles, 5 of which were sacks.
Round 2: Ed Reed
Since 2007, Ed Reed led the league in interceptions twice, 2008 (9) and 2010 (8), had six pick-sixes, and 182 tackles. Troy Polamalu was the 2010 AP Defensive Player of the Year, had a combined 19 interceptions, and 232 tackles.
Round 3: Troy Polamalu
Playoffs: Ed Reed hasn't been to the Super Bowl. The closest he's gotten is the AFC Championship Game in 2008 & 2011. The Ravens have made the playoffs every year since 2008. Troy Polamalu has been to the Super Bowl three times, winning twice.
Round 4: Troy Polamalu
Ed Reed was 24 when he came into the NFL. That means he will have a shorter career than Troy. Polamalu is still in his prime, and the speed and agility he brings to the table is unheard of. Ed Reed brings a clutch role and leadership.
Overall Career: Troy Polamalu
I can't believe I'm saying this, but, Polamalu is just so risky and fast that you don't see that. These are debatably the two best safety's ever.

Top: Ed Reed
Bottom: Troy Polamalu
